Relationship Systems coaches have a differentiated skillset.
Relationship Systems coaches focus on increasing the intelligence of the Relationship System. Just as individuals mature their emotional and social intelligence, a relationship system’s intelligence grows when the members of the system increase their understanding and appreciation of the system’s needs (rather than focusing on their individual experience, perspective or feelings) and choose to invest in supporting those needs.
We focus on the relationship itself. And we evoke transformation and value far beyond traditional facilitation skills.
What we do… and don’t do
Coaching (Growth-Oriented)
This is what we offer
Builds relational and conflict management skills, alignment, and shared purpose. Focuses on strengths, values, and future goals.
Examples:
• Team members have the required expertise but aren’t unified and highly functioning
• Couples in crisis needing structured support but not clinical intervention
• Blended family navigating the challenges of making it all work
• Pre-marital couples exploring shared values and purpose
• Married couples seeking a tune-up or annual retreat
Therapy (Healing-Oriented)
Referred out
Addresses psychological distress, trauma, or dysfunction. Indicated when one or both partners experience mental health challenges or unresolved emotional wounds. A diagnosis is provided and insurance may pay. If therapy is indicated, I will refer out.
Examples:
• History of abuse or significant psychological harm
• One or both partners are experiencing depression, anxiety, addiction, trauma or unresolved grief
• Ongoing affair
• Individual therapy is recommended before relational work can begin
Mediation (Resolution-Oriented)
Referred out
Facilitates structured negotiation and decision-making. Ideal when couples face legal, financial, or logistical conflict and need a neutral third party to reach agreement. Attorneys may be involved.
Examples:
• Divorce or separation with contested assets or custody
• Disputes over housing, inheritance, or financial obligations
• One partner refuses coaching or therapy but agrees to mediated resolution
• Legal agreements or trust structures requiring facilitated negotiation
